Lesson Excerpt:

Montana is located in the northwestern part of the United States bordered by Canada to the north; North Dakota and South Dakota to the east; Wyoming on the south; and Idaho on the south and west. Montana, the fourth largest state in area, is known as Big Sky Country due to the prairies of the Great Plains in the eastern portion of the state. The Great Plains give rise to the spectacular Rocky Mountains that occupy the western part of the state. The Continental Divide, that part of the Rocky Mountains which controls how waters flow into the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, runs through Montana.
