Lesson Excerpt:

There are shapes all around us.  Look around the classroom and see how many you can find.  Many of the shapes you will see are polygons. The word polygon comes from two Greek words: poly which means many and gon which means angle.  A polygon is a two-dimensional (flat) shape made up of straight lines which join together to close the shape.
